Positively Parenting Your Toddler
The toddler years can be a wonderful time of exciting growth and learning, but they can also be challenging! This interactive program for parents and caregivers of children 8 mos to 3 years addresses child development, temperament, emotional literacy, and discussion on promoting positive behaviour. Develop your strengths as a parent in this 6-week program for parents and caregivers of children ages 5-12. Topics include understanding the behaviour of children, building strong relationships, and providing effective encouragement and communication. This Friendship Group for girls in grades 2-4 will incliude activities, discussions, art and more, all designed to encourage positive social-emotional skills while identifying and exploring the value of friendship. Youth C.O.R.E.(Community Opportunities Recreation Experiences)

Thursdays 4-6pm
in the Media Room
(Lodge Lounge)

Youth CORE is open to teens in Grades 8-12 and is a safe and fun place for youth to go Thursdays after school. Alexandra Family Place Drop In
What happens? A wonderful opportunity for you to connect with other parents and caregivers. Parenting information and support is available on parenting and positive discipline.

When? Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10-12:30 (From September to June excluding statutory holidays)
Why? Parenting young children can be an amazing experience but can also have some challenges and questions. Alexandra Family Place Drop-in is an opportunity to connect with other families, learn and experience with your child.

Mother Goose
The Parent Child Mother Goose program is a 10 week group experience for parents and their young children that focuses on the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs and stories together, nurturing the attachment and bond that is growing between the parent and child. Next registration date is January 9, 2012 at 9am.

Daddy and Me
Dads are very important people in their children’s lives. Daddy and Me is sing- song and circle time for Dads and their little ones that gives Dads an opportunity to learn and have fun with their children from birth to 4 years. Growing Green Gardening Group Thursdays noon – 3.30pm. Help smarten up Alex NH grounds while making new friends and learning about sustainable gardening practices with our own Master gardener Collene Ford. All Welcome. 

First- Aid Training for Parents and Caregivers with young Children
Do you ever wonder what you would do if your child was choking or injured? Learning first aid is important and can be a life- saver one day. We will be hosting a one day course with a certified Red Cross Facilitator. Cost is  $80 and on completion, you will receive a 3-year Childcare First-aid Certificate. Parent Connect
This ongoing parent education group for parents with children ages 5-12 is on hold. Watch this space for more info.

Tea and Chat Friendship Group – Tuesdays 12.30-2.30pm
Make new friends, practice your English or help those who are new to the area practice their English and get to know their local community. All Welcome.

Vine Youth Wellness Drop-In - Medical Services - Mondays (except stat holidays) and 4th Wednesday of evey month 3:30-6:30pm. Physicians & Youth workers are available to meet with youth to provide information and referrals around issues of wellness. 15455 Vine Avenue, White Rock. 604-538-5060 ext 21.

Older Adults Sharing Ideas Together
A group of creative older adults have been gathering to share ideas for upcoming projects and initiatives. Working together to explore how older adults can support their community and have meaningful opportunities to engage, learn and contribute around activities and events focusing on the following community identified themes: the arts, cultural & intergenerational exchange, and health & wellness. Community Lunch (Camp Alexandra) Join us Wednesdays at noon from September to June for a light lunch and some great social time. - it’s a lovely opportunity to get out and meet friends. if you’d like to join us please call by 1pm on Monday so that we can make sure we have enough food. Cost is $6 and rides are available for people living in Crescent Beach/Ocean Park. The “Lodge Lounge” is ready for activities generated by older adults, for older adults in our community. Bring your ideas - scrabble anyone? Bridge? Let us know!
