Family Support Outreach Services:

CBCS provides one-to-one support for referred families facing challenges of parenting and family life. Staff assist parents in developing skills, confidence, natural supports and knowledge to support them in their journey as parents.

PARENT EDUCATION & INFORMATION

Perspectives In Parenting:
Offers parent-centred groups and workshops covering a wide variety of topics including 'Dealing with Anger in the Family', 'Bullying' and 'Internet Safety & Engaging Children's Cooperation'. Workshops may be presented a s a single event or offered in a series. Childcare is provided and groups are free or require a nominal charge.

Parent Education Programs: Programming ranges from early childhood through to the pre-teen years. By enhancing the tools in the parenting toolkit, programs intend to strengthen communication, promote a better understanding of the behaviour of children, encourage self-esteem in parents and children, and build greater confidence in implementing positive discipline strategies. Programs range from 6 to 10 weeks during evening hours with childminding typically available.


Family Education: The program offers separate and combined learning environments for pre-teens and caregivers. Topics include building assets, talking so your kids/parents listen, deciphering kid/parent language and many other helpful ideas to make the pre-teen years more enjoyable!

Self-help Groups:
CBCS supports parents wishing to take part in developing a self-help group, including single parent support groups.
