2012 Summer Camp Information will be available in spring 2012.
Camp Alexandra began providing summer camps for Vancouver’s orphans and underprivileged families in the early 1900’s. Our camping tradition has continued uninterrupted for almost 100 years, increasing capacity to meet growing demand. Situated on a historic site, just minutes away from a beautiful beach, temperate rainforest and migration corridor for birds, Camp Alexandra is a jewel in the oasis! Come and experience the beauty of our natural environment while building life-long friendships and participating in our exciting camp programs. There’s something for everyone!

Alexandra Neighbourhood House’s Play Away Day Camps introduce children to an exciting range of age-friendly fun activities in a safe and well-supervised environment. You can register children 5 to 12 years of age for sessions throughout the summer. Children are grouped by age and by gender into groups of 8 children to one leader. All Day Camp Programs run weekdays only. Arrival 9am departure 3pm.

Before and After Care
Alexandra Neighbourhood House offers before and after camp care. Campers can be dropped off from 8a.m onwards and picked up, at the latest at 5p.m. Children will enjoy activities such as badminton, frisbee, basketball, cards/games and social time with their friends.

What to bring:

  • an extra sweater
  • running shoes (no thongs)
  • baseball or sun hat
  • sun screen
  • swim suit and towel

What not to bring:

  • money (there is no place to spend it)
  • knives
  • matches or lighters
  • electronic games, radios/portable music players/IPods/MP3 players etc
  • trading cards of any kind

Refund Policy for Children’s Day Camps
An administration fee of $30 per child will be applied to cancellations made thirty (30) days or more prior to the start of a camp session.
FULL PROGRAM FEES will apply to cancellations made within fourteen (14) days of the start of a camp session, unless the spot can be filled by another camper.
Refunds can take up to 4 weeks to process.
A medical emergency prior to the camp start date that prevents a camper from attending camp: Full refund less a $30 administration fee upon receipt of MD’s note. Notification must be given as soon as possible.
Campers leaving camp mid-session due to medical or behavioural reasons receive no refunds.

Camp Souvenirs
Remember your trip to Camp Alexandra with a Camp souvenir! If you would like to purchase a Camp Alexandra T-shirt or hat and have not already ordered it with your registration form, please call our office, or send a cheque/cash with your child for $15.00 per item.  Camp T-shirts feature a multi-coloured design on a 100% cotton shirt.  T-shirts are available in youth and adult sizes and are distributed at the end of the session.

Staff
To ensure high quality leadership at Camp Alexandra Camps, all our Camp Counsellors and volunteers are well screened and trained before working at camp.
• Everyone completes a criminal record check and undergoes a personal interview and three reference checks.
• Everyone completes at minimum, certification in First Aid and CPR and participates in a 40-hour training program at camp.
