CBCS at Camp Alexandra began providing summer camps for Vancouver’s orphans and underprivileged families in the early 1900’s. Camp Alexandra is the only camp for adults with developmental disabilities in the Lower Mainland, and the camping tradition has continued uninterrupted for almost 100 years increasing capacity to meet growing demand. Following the supported adults camps for adults with developmental and mental health disabilities, low-income families in the Lower Mainland enjoyed a week of activities and freedom from the stress of daily living. A teen and young mothers’ camp also provides respite, socialization and learning/parent education opportunities for pregnant and parenting teens.
